Wind Direction

Wind direction whileing snook fishing is one that I usually check first. Am I going to go fishing either way, absolutely. Using the Windfinder App is free and easy to use. Now that you thought about where you want to be, you can think about where the fish will be.Firstly, snook are a predator fish and use their energy wisely. Secondly, often times when going after a meal, they don’t alway get it. Instead, they use the current to their advantage and wait for smaller bait fish to be pushed right to them. Therefore, putting your lure or bait in the strike zone improve your day drastically. If you’re fishing a structure like a wall, bridge, or dock, it’s important to note that when the current is flowing, the fish can stay behind the structure, using minimal effort.As a result, presenting your setup in the fashion of a baitfish swimming with the current just might be what it takes to get the next bite.

Weather

This one doesn’t need as much of an explanation. However, there are a few key things to think about. If the waters clear and the sun is out, chances are the fish can see you just as well as you can see them. On days like this maybe think about using slightly smaller leader depending on the fishing that you’re doing and keep a bit further distance than you normally would.

Structure

My favorite to think about and each have their own obstacles. You’re going to want to look for areas like seawalls, bridges , mangroves or docks. Things to think about when fishing these structure are where you don’t want them to go after they take your bait. Thats where they’re going. If you’re fishing docks, be ready for them to dart back into the the pilings in attempt to break your line and if you’re fishing a seawall there may be Pilings around and they may try every trick in the book.
